.........

Horray for Winter……..NOT! To be completely blunt this weather sucks, you can’t go anywhere without putting on at least 23 winter coats and starting your car an hour in advance. Now I know this is supposed to be “the most wonderful time of the year” but come on now , how can you enjoy anything when your face freezes the moment you go outside. But there is one good thing about staying inside on freezing days like these, sports. This time of year there are so many different things going on College Basketball about to begin conference play, College Football bowl season has just begun, and the NFL playoffs are almost finalized.

Starting with college basketball, if you’ve been around Kennedy any of the past four years you’ve probably heard the name Kaylon Williams mentioned a time or two. He is one of the best basketball players to ever walk the halls of Kennedy. He is a freshman at Evansville University this year after receiving a full ride to play basketball there. And as many of you may know he had quite a game to play in last week. His Evansville Purple Aces, headed to North Carolina to play the number one ranked team in college basketball the North Carolina Tar Heels. Now that’s what I call a game. He was the only freshman to start the game for either team. He played very well considering the circumstances finishing with 9 points 3 assists and 3 rebounds, not too shabby for a freshman in such a hostile environment

College Football’s Bowl week started last night with a couple of lesser known bowls but here they are:

EeagleBank Bowl: Wake Forest – 29, Navy-19

New Mexico Bowl: Colorado State – 40, Fresno State – 35

Magicjack St.Petersburg Bowl – South Florida – 41, Memphis – 14

Pioneer Las Vegas Bowl – Arizona - 31, BYU -21

Those are the bowls from Saturday that don’t really matter too much, the more important bowls start later in the week.

In the world of the NFL this is a big week, many teams will either make or break their playoff hopes today/tonight, some of the big games this weekend are: Atlanta vs. Minnesota, Dallas vs. Baltimore, Carolina vs. New York Giants, Tennessee vs. Pittsburgh, and New England vs. Arizona.

That’s enough outta me for a while so happy holidays if I don’t talk to you for awhile.

I'm Bo Yo!!

BOOHYA

So here we are again, in the computer lab of Kennedy high school typing out what happens in our incredibly amazing lives, or not so much. The last full week before Christmas break is upon us and it’s going by at a snails pace. But I suppose I can let you know what happened this weekend and stuff. Since people that will be reading this most likely go to Kennedy the Basketball team killed Prairie last Friday night, they only scored 8 first half points. The next night (Saturday) we played in Clinton and got more of a game than we expected, only beating them by 12. On the college level of things, the post-season awards were announced. Here are some of the main ones

Maxwell (outstanding player)
Tim Tebow, Florida (2nd year in a row)

Walter Camp (Player of the Year)
Colt McCoy, Texas

Chuck Bednarik (Defensive Player of The Year)
Ray Maualuga, USC

Davey O’Brien (Quarterback of the Year)
Sam Bradford, Oklahoma

Doak Walker (Running Back Of the Year)
Shonn Greene, Iowa

And of course there was one other award that is kind of a big deal I think it’s called the Heisman Memorial Trophy or something but I’m not sure..well here it goes.

Heisman Memorial Trophy (Nations Most Outstanding Player)
Sam Bradford, Oklahoma

The bowl games start pretty soon so I will be updating when they do. On another note the NFL playoffs are starting to take shape, and the Detroit Lions surprisingly I know wont be making it (for those of you who live under a rock they haven’t won a game yet this season) but the playoff race is shaping up like this.

So far these are the teams that have won there division and locked up a playoff spot, they are:
New York Giants, NFC East
Arizona Cardinals, NFC West
Pittsburgh Steelers, AFC North
Tennessee Titans, AFC South

In case any of you are wondering my favorite team is the Atlanta Falcons, they look like they could be making the playoffs via wildcard which in my understanding is pretty amazing judging how badly the sucked last year. I was just hoping for a winning season this season and look what I get, a possibility of going to the playoffs, merry Christmas to me!!!

Well like I said the college bowl season starts this week so hopefully during Christmas break I will get some good food, some good time with family and friends, and some good sports. Hopefully you all enjoy the holidays also!

This Here Blog

This here blog is going to be about whatever the heck i want it to be about because honestly how am i supposed to write an entire blog on one specific subject. first of all i am a completely spontaneous person and i don't feel that i should have to put limits on what i write about. So the topic of my blog will most definitely change day to day. One day it could be about sports or music or something, and the other day it could be about my previous weekend and how amazingly boring or awesome it was. Right about now I'm thinking that the whole blogging thing isn't up my alley but who knows maybe this whole experience will change my mind. Well I'll start by writing about something that interests me right now which is sports.

Last night the state of Iowa was on showcase against each other, Iowa played Northern Iowa, and Drake played Iowa State. Iowa beat UNI 65-46 and Jake Kelly led the way in scoring with 19. Iowa was however without their leading scorer Anthony Tucker who was inactive for the night for an unknown reason. Drake pulled it out against Iowa State last night 66-63, Josh Young led Drake in scoring also with 19. Overall both games were pretty good and i was impressed with the way they represented the state last night. In football Iowa is going to a bowl game! They are headed to the Outback bowl where they will face the South Carolina Gamecocks. I think that this should be a good game, but if you can believe it, i have been wrong before! Amazing i know but it happens. But i guess adios until next time!

It's that time of year!

As my title pretty much states it's that time of year again! The time of year when the Christmas music we've been hearing since what seems like July actually fits. I personally could care less about that but the important thing is it's College Football bowl time and the College Basketball season is beginning! My blog will most likely be about things such as this, updating you on major things happening, big wins or big losses, and the latest college or professional athlete that shot himself or killed a dog or two. This thing might get updated once a week or once a month, who knows but be sure to check it out every now and then if you missed a score or just want to hear me vent about idiots who have it made but decide to screw it up somehow. But yeah like i said my blog will most likely be about college sports because i think that those are more interesting than professional because they play for pride and their school. Since this is MY blog i'm not going to lie, i may be biased toward a few specific teams, i wont however tell you which teams i am biased toward but if you read it enough you'll most likely get the picture of what teams i like and do not like. Now right about now you're probably thinking what the heck is he just rambling for? well to tell you the truth these things need to be 400 words a piece and i'm typing right now to use up these words, later on i'll start with the scores and stuff but the purpose of this is to tell you what this damn thing will be about. i may every now and then post some videos on this here thing and or just you know use something to take up space, but overall i hope you enjoy this stupid little thing or if you don't then do what the title says and dont read the thing! well right now i'm up to like 350 words so i'm getting there haha, i guess i can update you on some of the stuff that happened last night! first of all Iowa lost to Boston College on a missed free throw, and Duke beat Purdue by 16, the ACC/Big Ten Challenge is going on and the are tied 3-3 at the moment so tonight will decide it, i'll try and update asap.
